"We are looking for justice because something definitely didn't work. What's strange is that they were in a car being tested, on a ring road and not with expert people and fireproof suits. So, throw yourself into the fray.

With absurd tests which in my opinion are done in the laboratory, on a track": this is the complaint by Rosaria Corsaro, the mother of Fulvio Filace, the student who died in June in the fire of an experimental car together with the researcher from the Stems Institute of the Cnr Maria Vittoria Prati. Today she received the master's degree in memory in Mechanical Engineering for energy and the environment from the University of Naples Federico II.

In a classroom full of students, with family members in the front row, there was so much emotion.

There was little left for Fulvio, a brilliant student: he was busy with a few hours of internship before reaching the finish line of graduation.

A brief profile of Fulvio is outlined by the coordinator of the Imea master's degree course and his tutor, Fabio Bozza.

“He was a motor enthusiast, very attentive to his work,” he said, while student representative Giuseppe Mazzucco recalled his “affectionate smile”.

His mother Maria Rosaria Corsaro then spoke: "Today Fulvio would have been the happiest person in the world because the first of his dreams would have come true: graduating and then moving on to his working life. He would have been proud of himself and he would certainly also have thanked his family for always supporting and encouraging him."

And with a broken voice she continued: "I am firmly convinced that even if a person is no longer with us, everything beautiful that he left us cannot end here. And that in any case his ideas, his conscience and intelligence live in everyone of us, in all those who loved and appreciated him".

Also among the audience present was Maria Bianca Vaglieco, director of the Institute of Sciences and Technologies for Sustainable Energy and Mobility (Stems) of the Cnr.

At the end of the ceremony, Fulvio's mother handed over a bookmark with a quote from her son on it.

"A man is judged by his works and what we do in life echoes for eternity."

The rector: 'We will get to the bottom of it'

"It was a huge tragedy. I have no words. I can assure you that we will get to the bottom of it because this is something unimaginable."

The rector of the Federico II university, Matteo Lorito, said this, speaking with Rosaria Corsaro, the mother of Fulvio Filace, the student who died in a fire in an experimental car in June together with the researcher from the Stems Institute of the Cnr Maria Vittoria Meadows.

He then added to reporters: "The kids come to us to be accompanied and launched towards the future, certainly not to find themselves in situations like the one we saw. We still don't know what happened, we still can't get information but we are more determined than never to go all the way because the efforts we make for these kids, to give them the chance to discover the world of research, cannot end in this way".

And to those who ask him if he will be a civil party in the trial, the rector said: "Of course. We are waiting for things to be clarified. If there are responsibilities we will get to the bottom of it. We will be with the family. We too are the injured party: he was and is one of our students."
