The Government took another step in its decision to
restrict teachers' right to strike
by announcing that it began the evaluation of
declaring education an essential service
, as announced this Tuesday at a press conference by the presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni.
Article 97 of President Javier Milei's DNU established that initial, primary and secondary education, as well as child care services and special education, among others, will be considered an "essential service."
What is sought is that, in the event of any conflict,
the provision of at least 75% of the service is guaranteed
.
That is to say, the other 25% of teachers can go on strike.
Specifically, what the DNU establishes is that every time a teaching union goes on strike, schools can remain open.
In this way, the Executive seeks to fulfill both rights: to education and to strike.
