This is often the age at which we decide to use it but it is also the age that we have just celebrated, since the Working Holiday Visa (WHV) program between France and Australia, also known as name of Visa Working Holiday Program (PVT) in French, marks its 20th anniversary on February 20, 2024.
A real success since its launch in 2004, the PVT has opened the door to more than 330,000 young French people aged 18 to 35, allowing them to explore Australia while having the opportunity to work.

Last year, from July 2022 to June 2023, more than 21,600 PVT visas were allocated to young French people, placing France in second position among the countries contributing to this program, or 14% of the total participants.
Its distance makes it a very exotic country, and you don't just go there for a few weeks: the PVT lends itself well... allowing you to stay up to a year there while working to replenish your bank account.
The Australian government agency responsible for promoting the country, Tourism Australia, one of whose missions is to encourage the development of the PVT in France, wants to make this anniversary an opportunity to encourage even more French candidates to leave.

Eva Seller, Regional Director for Continental Europe at Tourism Australia, highlights the significant impact these travelers have on Australia's tourism economy.
According to her, young French people are enriching the sector not only through their extended length of stay and increased spending but also through their desire to explore lesser-known parts of the country.

Who can obtain a working permit for Australia?
The PVT is accessible to young French people aged 18 to 35.
You must have a valid passport, not have dependent children during your stay and have sufficient funds to meet your needs on site.
How to obtain the PVT for Australia?
To do this, nothing could be simpler, you must make an online request on the official website of the Australian government.
98% of requests are accepted.
What is the PVT for Australia used for?
Once you have your PVT in your pocket, you will be able to travel, improve your English but above all work.
Be careful however, the program imposes certain limits so as not to cannibalize other Australian Visas.
The PVT is not a work visa like the others, it does not allow you to work for more than 6 months with the same employer.
In the vast majority of cases the French work in agricultural production, on farms... but it is up to you to find where you want to work.
This is also not a Student Visa, if your aim is to take English courses in Australia this will only be possible for a maximum of 17 weeks.
Beyond that, you will have to opt for a Student Visa.
