An association is supposed to revive the Tutzinger cinema.

At the first information event on March 7th there will be details about the concept.

Donors and members are being sought.

Tutzing – Another two weeks and the hall of the Tutzinger Kurtheater could be full again for the first time since it was closed at the turn of the year.

The “Citizen Cinema” project – i.e. the planned restart with the help of donations and membership fees – is to be presented on Thursday, March 7th, from 7 p.m. in the Kurtheater on Kirchenstrasse.

Vice mayor and cultural officer Elisabeth Dörrenberg announced this on behalf of the community.

Although the municipality is not one of the initiators of the project, it is helping to support it by calling for the first information event.

Lucie Vorlickova from Tutzingen is driving the revival of the cinema forward.

According to her, the Kurtheater can reopen in the fall - if we manage to raise enough money for start-up financing over the next two months in order to purchase technical equipment, among other things.

There is already a concrete, quite ambitious fundraising goal by mid-April, but Vorlickova doesn't want to mention it until the event on March 7th - as well as details about the planned annual membership fees of different levels, which can be chosen by yourself.

The cinema will be run by an association that has yet to be founded and is looking for members.

“From March 7th, membership applications can be submitted and donations can be made,” says Vorlickova.

The declarations of membership could then also be thrown into “camera mailboxes”.

The copies designed by Robert Harthauser, owner of the cinema building, will be in two public places in Tutzing - so that the project becomes visible in the town.

Kurtheater should be more than a cinema

So that there is more going on in the Kurtheater in the future, it should offer more than just film consumption.

Vorlickova mentions performances for all generations and in the original language, the involvement of kindergartens and schools, desired films and open airs, but also comedy, theater, cabaret, music, art, readings and lectures.

Cultural officer Dörrenberg emphasizes in her letter that the community supports the project.

However, for the time being only “ideal”, as she said when asked by Starnberger Merkur.

The ideas are wonderful, the municipality is 100 percent behind them.

However, the budget for the current year, which the local council is supposed to pass in March, is already in place.

“We can then talk about funding in 2025.

I can imagine it and I would like it,” says the deputy mayor.

However, the initiators of the “citizen cinema” were also aware of the difficult financial situation of the community.

This year she could try to “rearrange something” in her budget as a cultural officer, but more than a “low, three-digit amount” is not possible, says Dörrenberg.

She therefore appeals to citizens to join the new association.

Daniela Lausser, known from previous work in the Evangelical Academy and for the Beccult community center in the Pöcking community, also joined the team of initiators.

She created the flyers that will soon be distributed in Tutzing.

You can also read the other information dates about the project on it: March 21st and April 18th, both from 7 p.m. in the cinema.
