Shortly after Christmas, director Johannes Honsell dies unexpectedly.
A malignant tumor causes his death within a few days.
Munich – Shortly before Christmas, filmmaker Johannes Honsell noticed that something was wrong with his health.
The 45-year-old is known, among other things, as the inventor of the children's knowledge program “Checker Tobi”, which
is broadcast on
Kika .
He sought medical treatment.
He wrote to his friend and colleague Oliver Das Gupta from his sickbed: “I have a great network full of love.” It was his last message to Das Gupta, as he reported in his obituary for Honsell in
Spiegel
.
Many are devastated by Honsell's sudden death.
Checker Tobi inventor receives cancer diagnosis shortly before Christmas - twelve days later he is dead
In the hospital, Honsell was diagnosed with cancer.
A disease that in many cases means a long period of suffering.
In the director's case, however, the progression was much less gradual.
His condition deteriorated quickly and dramatically.
He died less than two weeks after his diagnosis on the third weekend in December.
Honsell is survived by his wife and 10-year-old son.
The fact that there was so little time between the diagnosis and the director's death is probably also due to the type of tumor.
It is said to have been an extremely aggressive, rapidly growing brain tumor, as the
Bild
news portal reports.

Brain tumor disease is rare but can often occur suddenly
The sudden appearance of the tumor and the dramatic progression are both due to the characteristics of this form of cancer.
On the one hand, some types of brain tumors can develop within a few weeks, as the German Cancer Research Center (dkfz) informs.
On the other hand, according to the dkfz, there are no simple, regularly performed tests to detect brain tumors.
Brain tumors can also be detected using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
However, it is not suitable as a regular screening test for such rare tumor diseases, according to the dkfz.
It is very time-consuming and expensive.
TV star Helena Fürst also made her brain tumor diagnosis public in November.
Now she reports how she is currently doing.
