It is up to judges and medical professionals to determine what caused the death in custody of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini said on Tuesday.

But League leader Salvini says it is not yet possible to attribute blame.

"I understand the position of Navalny's wife, clarity is needed.

"But it is up the doctors, the judges do it, not us."

"All the nonsense about (the League's alleged) links with Russia has been dismissed, the judges have said there is nothing init".
