The federal police are now investigating the driver.

According to the federal police, an unknown smuggler dropped off five people in the Walchensee area (B11) on Monday morning (February 19th).

Based on a tip from a witness, officers from the Mittenwald border police first encountered the group of five at the parking lot of the Herzogstandbahn.

The four men and the woman had previously asked in English for the police to be called.

A smuggler dropped her off and left her to fend for herself.

According to the police, those who were transported were soaked and hypothermic.

Therefore, a medical service was requested.

Initial care for the frozen people on site was sufficient and treatment in a hospital was not necessary.

The federal police are investigating the smuggler

The federal police took over the investigation against the driver who is said to have driven the five migrants across the German-Austrian border early in the morning.

The smuggled people explained that they had traveled about two kilometers on foot.

The police inform that the smuggler, who was unknown to them, had previously asked them to leave the car with a Slovenian license plate.

They didn't have any identification papers with them.
