The Raiffeisenbank in Oberland is once again looking for the “stars of sport”.

The award is presented at the regional level in bronze.

The application deadline runs until the end of June.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - “After the great record participation last year at our tenth anniversary event of 'Stars of Sports', we are particularly motivated to support popular sports and the promotion of youth work in our local clubs with enthusiasm and final for all participants with an unforgettable award ceremony,” explains Raiffeisenbank board spokesman Manfred Gasteiger.

Last year, first place went to the Egling sports support association for the “All for 1 – Young Generation” project.

Together with the community, the elementary school, the Wolfratshausen children's and youth support association, the DFB and the partner clubs SF Egling and SC Deining, we managed to set up a school sports group in which children can enjoy exercise.

TV Bad Tölz secured second place with the inclusive exercise festival “Experience Sport Together”, the opening event for the Special Olympics Bavaria Winter Games in Bad Tölz.

The winter games for people with mental and multiple disabilities also brought the Lenggries Ski Club a prize.

The club won third place for hosting the cross-country skiing and snowshoeing competitions.

“Stars of Sport” has existed since 2004

The “Stars of Sports” club competition is Germany’s most important award for the social commitment of sports clubs.

Since 2004, the Volksbanken/Raiffeisenbanken have been running the competition together with the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and honor sports clubs that are particularly socially committed beyond their usual sporting offerings.

Since then, the participating sports clubs have received more than 7.5 million euros to promote their social commitment.

The socially committed idea is crucial

“For the eleventh time in a row, we are once again calling on all local sports clubs in our business area to apply,” says press spokeswoman Simone Kleinjung, encouraging all organizations from the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and Miesbach districts.

“We would be very happy if clubs used innovative projects and campaigns to show what kind of outstanding commitment there is in the clubs here in the Oberland,” says Kleinjung and emphasizes: “We would especially like to motivate clubs that have never been there before to apply.

The focus is particularly on new project ideas outside of the usual club life - even if they seem so small.

The socially committed idea behind it is crucial.”

Participation alone is worth it: the Raiffeisenbank in Oberland rewards every application with a donation of 250 euros for the club's coffers.

“By participating in the 'Stars of Sport', we want to give the clubs a platform on which they can receive the recognition they so richly deserve,” explains the press spokeswoman.

“Ideally, we would encourage further participation in the respective club activities and volunteer work.”

There are cash prizes as prizes

All sports clubs from the Raiffeisenbank business area in Oberland can take part.

The application deadline is June 30th.

An independent jury then evaluates all entries and selects the winning club at local level.

This will be awarded the “Great Star of Sports” in bronze, combined with a prize money of 1000 euros.

Second place is worth 750 euros, third place is worth 500 euros.

The winning club also automatically qualifies for the state final for the “Stars of Sport” in silver.

Last year, the Egling sports support association narrowly missed winning at the state level.
