Hut fun means delicious food, happy get-togethers and the cozy atmosphere of the mountain huts - now also with bread dumpling muffins to take home.
Ski safe!
The Hut Fun theme week on Simply Tasty takes you to the snowy Alps, where skiers and snowboarders are looking for the perfect powder snow for the descent.
After a long day on the slopes, for many people there is nothing better than a refreshing ski water (soda water with raspberry syrup), a warming cup of Jagertee or even one or two mulled wine.
Sounds wonderful, right?

Not for Simply Tasty editor Sandra, because when she thinks of “skiing” she tends to think of sore muscles, wet clothes and cold feet and would love to avoid any winter vacation.
But that certain coziness that a mountain hut exudes with its crackling fire and the culinary delicacies on the plates is simply irresistible.
After all, who doesn't like to fortify themselves after a strenuous day of winter sports with a large portion of cheese spaetzle or a hearty Tyrolean Gröstl burger?

300 g rolls from the day before

Mushroom cream sauce:
50g butter
1 onion
250 g mushrooms
150 ml white wine (this non-alcoholic alternative also works)
200 ml whipped cream
salt and pepper
Thanks to these step-by-step instructions, making bread dumpling muffins is easy:
For the bread dumpling muffins:
Cut the rolls from the day before into small pieces.
Chop the parsley and finely dice the onion.
Place the bacon cubes in a pan and fry the onion cubes in the bacon fat until translucent.
Let cool down.
Heat the milk to lukewarm in a small saucepan with 50 grams of butter.
Separate eggs.
Add the egg yolk, milk-butter mix, parsley and the cooled bacon and onion cubes to the rolls and mix everything together loosely.
Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the dough.
Season generously with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
Grease the muffin tin with the remaining butter, sprinkle with breadcrumbs and pour the dough into the hollows.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
For the mushroom cream sauce:
Finely dice the onion and sauté in butter.
Clean the mushrooms and cut them in slices.
Add to the onions, fry for another three minutes and deglaze with white wine.
Pour in the whipped cream and let everything simmer for five minutes.
Season with salt and pepper.
Serve the bread dumpling muffins with mushroom cream sauce and enjoy!
Simple Tasty Tip:
For fluffy muffins, the dumpling dough should be kneaded and stirred as little as possible.
The mixture is held in shape by the muffin tin during baking, so there is no risk of them falling apart.
