Stormy hours lie ahead in the north.

But the foothills also hit Bavaria.

The DWD describes the weather situation - and warns for the Free State.

Munich – It will be uncomfortable in the north of Germany in the coming days.

The German Weather Service (DWD) warns of severe squalls, and in some cases even hurricane gusts are possible.

But the weather in Bavaria will also be turbulent towards the weekend.

“Severe squalls”: DWD warns of “front system of a strong low”

According to the DWD, the “front system of a strong low over the Northern Sea”, which also influences Bavaria from the west, is responsible for the upcoming capricious weather.

The meteorologists' current warning report states: "From Thursday night onwards, there will be increasing gusts of 80 km/h in the ridges of the eastern low mountain ranges and in the high altitudes of the Alps, and on high Alpine peaks there will also be heavy gusts of up to 100 km/h from the southwest."

The DWD warns of heavy gusts of wind and continuous rain in Bavaria - these are the foothills of a low that is hitting especially over the north of the Federal Republic.

The squalls are accompanied by sometimes persistent rain.

From early Thursday, February 22nd, it is expected to rain in some areas until the night of Friday, February 23rd.

“In the Franconian low mountain ranges, quantities of between 30 and 40 liters per square meter in 24 hours cannot be ruled out,” writes the DWD in the warning situation report.
