“Take corpse away from mother”: Contradictory information after Navalny’s death

First report

: Moscow – The death of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny is not the only thing that concerns the public.

The whereabouts of his remains also cause speculation.

Russia is apparently withholding the body, saying the 47-year-old died of “sudden death syndrome.”

The independent Russian portal

Mediazona

is now reporting on a “midnight convoy” with Navalny’s body.

Mediazona

speculates that the convoy “possibly” had the purpose of removing Navalny’s body… “before his mother arrived at the camp.”

Mediozona

published relevant video footage that fits the assumption.

Navalny's mother has been denied access to her son since his death.

She flew on Saturday (February 17) to the penal colony where the Kremlin critic was imprisoned.

However, she was denied access to the morgue where the dead Navalny was said to have been.

Chemical analysis of Navalny's body planned

If the transport took place with a convoy, it would be somewhat contradictory to previous information.

According to his spokeswoman, Navalny's body will be kept by investigators for at least two weeks.

“The investigators have told Alexei's mother and the lawyers that they will not hand over his body and that they will carry out a chemical analysis, an examination, in the next 14 days,” Kira Jarmisch explained on Monday (February 19) in online services.

“They will be doing some sort of inspection for at least two weeks.”

Allegations after Navalny's death: "Complete mockery"

“I’ll say it again: Navalny’s body is being hidden to cover up the traces of the murder,” Jarmisch wrote on online services.

“This 14-day 'chemical analysis' is a complete lie and a mockery.” She expects that the authorities will not release Navalny's body even after the 14 days have expired.

Navalny, a prominent opponent of Russian President Vladimir Putin, died suddenly on Friday in a penal camp in the Arctic Circle at the age of 47, according to the Russian penitentiary authority.

The Kremlin said on Monday that the investigation into Navalny's death was ongoing and that there were no results yet.

Navalny's widow Julia: "Putin killed my husband"

Navalny's widow Yulia Navalnaya said on Monday: "Putin killed my husband."

Jarmisch and Navalnaya drew comparisons with 2020, when Navalny became seriously ill on a flight to Moscow.

At that time, doctors tried to prevent a transfer to Europe.

Navalnaya eventually got her husband taken to Germany for treatment, where tests revealed that Navalny had been poisoned.
