The inventory of the former Happsche Pharmacy in Wolfratshausen's old town is a so-called integral part of the listed building.

The initiative by the “Fairtrade” group has sparked a debate in the Wolfratshausen city council: What should happen to the former Happsche Pharmacy, which the municipality bought almost eight years ago?
Wolfratshausen – The former Happsche Pharmacy in the old town is without a doubt a gem.
But the vacant property, which the city bought almost eight years ago, is extremely problematic in terms of use.
The building enjoys monument protection, the historical inventory “is an integral part of the monument,” said Sabine Trinkl, head of the town hall planning and environment department, at the city council meeting on Tuesday evening.
So it wasn't a big surprise that the majority of councilors expressly welcomed a proposal from the “Faitrade” steering group - but did not approve it by resolution.
The city of Wolfratshausen bought a listed pharmacy: renovation will probably cost millions
Third mayor Annette Heinloth (Greens) and SPD city councilor Ingrid Schnaller are members of the steering group that advocates for the purchase of fair trade products.
The rafting town has had the title “Faitrade Town” since 2019.
In this context, Heinloth applied to renovate the ground floor of the old pharmacy on Untermarkt and “give it over” to the “Ein Welt” association as a “Fairtrade” shop.
At least part of the property could be used “sensibly” - and the club could move from the location opposite the city music school to the center.
That would probably boost sales.
Very important: The former Happsche Pharmacy was “finally being tackled” after years of slumber, said Heinloth.
Because long-term vacancy “is not good for the building structure”.
The deputy mayor expects two to three million euros for renovation
“That’s a good idea,” said Richard Kugler (Wolfratshauser List).
But a renovation, according to the master craftsman, will cost “several hundred thousand euros”.
Second Mayor Günther Eibl (CSU) – also a master craftsman – echoed the same sentiments.
He remembers an inspection of the former pharmacy, which showed him that renovation would require an “unimaginable investment”.
Two to three million euros “can certainly be expected”.
Like Kugler before him, Eibl pointed out the municipality's tense budgetary situation.
He believes it is advisable to “take a step back” before making a decision in order to “take a realistic step” first.
The deputy mayor called for a “stock-taking”.
When it comes to renovation and use, the question then has to be answered: “Do we do it ourselves” – or should we hand over the task to an investor, as was the case with the former surveying office next to the town hall?

Using it as a “Faitrade” store was a “wonderful idea,” said Dr.
Ulrike Krischke (BVW).
But just renovate the ground floor?
“I'm skeptical about that,” and she doesn't believe in a “simple renovation.”
“We have to look at the building as a whole,” said Krischke, “what’s in store for us?” In any case, added town hall employee Trinkl, “we first have to talk to the monument protection authority.”
What do we want to do with the property, can we afford the renovation - are there alternatives?

Also Dr.
Patrick Lechner (FDP) considered a decision to be “premature” given the uncertain renovation costs.
Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner (BVW) pointed out that, among other things, “the entire building technology” had to be renewed.
Otherwise you won't be able to find a building insurer.
Heilinglechner urged caution: “What do we want to do with the property, can we afford the renovation – are there alternatives?”
Third mayor finally withdraws application
Green City Councilor Hans-Georg Anders didn't want to throw in the towel so quickly.
He referred to the small property on Bahnhofstrasse.
Here the city only renovated the ground floor, which now houses an outside group of the Wolfratshausen integrative daycare center.
According to town hall boss Heilinglechner, the comparison is flawed: “There was no listed interior design in the small property.”
Finally, Heinloth withdrew the application.
Heilinglechner and his deputy Eibl stated that a resolution from 2018 now takes effect.
The former Happsche Pharmacy will be subjected to an “investigation” – and an initial rough estimate of the renovation costs will then be presented to the city council.
