Deepfakes are multiplying in view of the American elections.

This time the one to be hit is Donald Trump, known for his excesses which led some social platforms to ban him for a period.

In a video generated by artificial intelligence, and declared as such, the deceased father of the former US president appears advising him against running in the next electoral round.

The video was created by the Lincoln Project, a political action committee founded by moderate conservatives and former Republicans that is working to prevent Trump's return to the White House.

Fred Trump, a real estate developer and businessman like his son, died in 1999. In the fake video he despises his son's business and also accuses him of negligence in his personal life.

"We thought Donald would need some words of encouragement from his father Fred who was a strong supporter of his career. Fred is angry that he handed over his empire to such a son, who even lost money running a casino ", writes The Lincoln Project on Twitter.

At the end of the video is a warning that it was "wholly or substantially generated by artificial intelligence" and that it includes "speech or behavior that did not occur."

We thought Donald could use some words of encouragement from his father Fred, who was such a strong supporter of his career.

Fred's angry he handed over his empire to a son so “low-rent” he even lost money running a casino & will be lucky to keep his dumb ass out of prison.

The deepfake of Trump's father is just the latest in a wave of misinformation ahead of the fall elections.

Last month, voters in New Hampshire received robocalls from a voice that sounded like current President Joe Biden telling them not to vote in the primaries.

The US Federal Communications Commission subsequently announced a ban on AI-generated voices in robocalls.

Last week, at the Munich Security Conference, a group of 20 hi-tech companies announced that they had agreed to work together to prevent deceptive artificial intelligence content from interfering with elections around the world, which will see billions cast at the polls of citizens.
