The high schools in the Starnberg district are popular.

A consensus was reached in order to make a school place available for every suitable child.

Starnberg district - The region's high schools are popular, the transfer rates to high school are above average compared to the rest of Bavaria, and in the 2025/2026 school year there will be a 13th grade at Bavarian high schools for the first time since the reintroduction of the G9.

Despite the limited spatial capacity, an attractive and adequate school place will be available for every child from the western district who is suitable for high school.

Avoid a shortage of high school places in the Starnberg district in 2024/2025: Schools develop a joint approach

For this purpose, the ministerial representative responsible for the Starnberg district, Brigitte Grams-Loibl, representatives of the Starnberg district and the head teachers of the Christoph-Probst-Gymnasium in Gilching, the Carl-Spitzweg-Gymnasium in Germering as well as the head teachers of the Max-Born-Gymnasium Germering, the Tutzing High School and Starnberg High School developed a common consensus:

- Precursor classes are being formed at two high schools for all students who want to attend the new Herrsching high school: at the Max-Born-Gymnasium Germering and at the Carl-Spitzweg-Gymnasium in Unterpfaffenhofen/Germering.

- With the start of school operations in Herrsching, students in the previous classes can, if they wish, transfer to the new Herrsching high school and will be accepted there.

However, for those students who do not attend an official precursor class, admission to the Herrsching High School is only possible if there is free capacity in the classes intended for a transfer to Herrsching and cannot be guaranteed.

- Furthermore, due to the limited capacity of school places in the existing high schools until the new Herrsching high school goes into operation, the procedure for enrolling students in the upcoming fifth grades for the 2024/2025 school year has been determined:

- Students from the communities of Herrsching and Seefeld are assigned to the two high schools Carl-Spitzweg-Gymnasium (Unterpfaffenhofen) and Max-Born-Gymnasium (Germering).

Travel costs will be covered until the Herrsching high school opens.

If the capacity at one of these high schools is exceeded, the central allocation process coordinated by the ministerial representative will take effect from Wednesday, May 8th.

For students who live within walking distance of the bus stops in Breitbrunn and who can reach the Christoph-Probst-Gymnasium Gilching (CPG) directly with bus line 928V, admission to the CPG Gilching is possible up to capacity limits.

Friendships with classmates from other places of residence who are assigned to the Carl-Spitzweg-Gymnasium or the Max-Born-Gymnasium cannot be taken into account for admission to the Christoph-Probst-Gymnasium.

Children from Weßling, Wörthsee and Inning will be admitted to the Christoph-Probst-Gymnasium until capacity limits are reached.

If the capacity limits are exceeded, a solution will be developed and the legal guardians of the affected students will be informed promptly.

Consensus on high school places in the Starnberg district: Travel costs up to the opening in Herrsching will be covered

The registration days at all five high schools (Carl-Spitzweg-Gymnasium Germering, Max-Born-Gymnasium Germering, Christoph-Probst-Gymnasium Gilching, Gymnasium Starnberg and Gymnasium Tutzing) are

Monday, May 6th and Tuesday, May 7th

.

Please see the respective high school websites for details.

The current admission capacities at the high schools after enrollment will be recorded centrally by the ministerial representative for the high schools in Upper Bavaria-West and published on the website of the respective high schools on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

Within these capacities, there is freedom in choosing a high school.

The central allocation process for a high school place for students will also begin on Wednesday, May 8th, if admission to the desired high school is not possible.

If students are assigned to a high school, the travel costs of the affected children will be covered

until

the Herrsching high school opens.

The Herrsching high school will ease the situation.

According to the current planning status, school operations in the new Herrschinger high school are expected to start in September 2025 and will significantly ease the lack of space in the surrounding high schools.
