The requirements are high, and so are the costs.
In recent years, the price of driving licenses has risen to dizzying heights.
A comparison now shows how much money you have to put down in Munich.
Munich – Minimum 25 driving hours, twelve special trips, 14 hours of theory and around 1,000 exam questions.
A driving license not only means a bit of independence, but is also associated with enormous costs.
Nowhere does a driving license cost as much as in Munich
The camping portal
Paul Camper
has now compared the prices for class B driving licenses in 20 German cities.
The differences are enormous: a driving license can cost between 2,700 and 4,200 euros.
With the proud total price, which includes the driving lessons as well as the basic amount and application, Munich is almost 1,500 euros more expensive than Berlin.
Learner drivers there only have to shell out an average of around 2,718 euros.

Of course, there are no upper limits to the total price of the driving license if, for example, an above-average number of driving lessons are required or tests have to be repeated.
For the comparison, the costs of five randomly selected driving schools were examined in each city.
Practical driving lessons in Munich: Every hour counts
Driving lessons are the biggest component on the way to getting your driving license.
While an hour in Berlin costs an average of 53 euros, in Munich it costs around 78 euros.
The special trips, however, are on average more expensive than normal hours at 69 euros.
The fees for the two driving license tests are the same throughout Germany.
The theory test costs 22.49 euros and the practical test costs 116.93 euros.
Being diligent is worth it, every further attempt has to be paid for again.
Significant price differences between the authorities
However, significant differences are particularly visible when applying for a driving license.
Each country decides for itself the fees for issuing a driving license for the first time. The price in Munich is moderate at 44.70 euros, while in Dresden and Erfurt it is 50.80 euros.

Munich is one of the best places: competition and the fleet influence driving school prices
According to the comparison, these price ranges are due, among other things, to the quality of the fleet and local competition.
In Berlin, over 350 driving schools may keep prices low.
In Munich, on the other hand, people often learn to drive in high-quality vehicles such as BMW or Audi, which could explain the higher costs.
