The community of Odelzhausen rejects the alliance's plan for Dachau.

But Elisabeth Kappes has a special idea.

A heart for the Dachau ice stadium: At the local council meeting, Elisabeth Kappes suggested starting a crowdfunding campaign.

By the way: The cute banners are currently hanging around the stadium.

Odelzhausen – Pfaffenhofen made short work of it, Sulzemoos made little fuss, and Röhrmoos casually waved it off.

More and more communities are deciding not to join the special-purpose association for an ice rink in Dachau proposed by the Alliance for Dachau voter group.

To cut a long story short: The community of Odelzhausen doesn't want to either.

But because the people of Odelzhausen sympathize with ice hockey players, curlers and children who skate, an alternative proposal came up at the local council meeting on Monday evening.

The matter of the special-purpose association was quickly taken off the table.

Second mayor Johann Heitmair (CSU), who chaired the meeting, said he doesn't think many Odelzhausen residents go to Dachau to visit the ice rink there;

Community leader Markus Trinkl received further training that day together with his district mayor colleagues.

“The budget situation is also tense,” continued Heitmair.

“So we should do it like the other communities.” In other words: reject the request.

There was no resistance in the plenary session.

Edgar Hiller (Free Voters) pointed out that the municipality was planning the “Wyld Aktivplatz” together with the Dachau district youth group, which was enough.

As reported, the leisure area is to be built between the SV Odelzhausen site, the school grounds and the dirt park.

In this regard, the community youth work has scheduled a participation workshop for everyone in the school for next Saturday, February 24th, at 9 a.m.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Dachau newsletter.)

Elisabeth Kappes suggests a crowdfunding campaign

Finally, Elisabeth Kappes (Odelzhausen Citizens' Association) spoke up.

She had an idea: “We should do a fundraiser!” For those who aren’t into the topic, let’s explain: The ice rink on the ASV Dachau site would have to go if the club’s Georg Scherer Hall goes as planned will be demolished and replaced by a much larger “event arena”.

This would also require the area of the ice stadium.

Kappes remembered the pleasant way of collecting money via crowdfunding.

And she explained that the petition “Ice for Dachau – Our city needs an artificial ice rink” is currently running, with almost 5,900 people having signed.

So Kappes calculated: If each supporter paid 100 euros into the crowdfunding pot, a whopping 590,000 euros would come together.

A lot of money, but: the maintenance of the Dachau ice stadium cost a whopping 388,000 euros in 2022.

After deducting revenue of 110,000 euros, the city was left with a deficit of 278,000 euros.
