An obituary.

Freising

- He was a real pioneer in the media landscape and at the same time an integral part of Freising's social life for many years: Fred Fuggenthaler.

He died on January 24th at the age of just 68.

Fuggenthaler was born in Lower Bavaria and initially trained as a radio and television technician.

But he soon realized that his calling lay elsewhere: in 1978 he switched to the advertising industry, where he caused a stir with his ideas and industriousness.

Fred Fuggenthaler was responsible for organizing the first Kaltenberg knight tournaments that are now known throughout Germany.

Fuggenthaler made a name for himself not only in Freising in 1982, when he launched Germany's first local TV station with “Freising im Bild – FiB” and also acted as its editor-in-chief.

He also worked as a cameraman, director and program designer and was responsible for editing.

Two years later, Fred Fuggenthaler founded the New Media Agency, and in 1998 he founded the Golf Media Agency.

Fred Fuggenthaler organized wedding fairs and was a fixture in the Freising Narrhalla in various functions in the 1980s and 1990s.

And at the same time, Fred Fuggenthaler developed and sold various Bavarian joke items such as the Kopfblasrüssel, or “Koblarü” for short.
