Numerous illnesses are making life difficult for Norway's King Harald V
At the beginning of February, King Harald had to cancel several appointments due to a respiratory infection, and Crown Prince Haakon (50) stepped in for his sick father.
In the previous two years, Harald V. was even admitted to hospital because of similar infections, where he had to be treated with antibiotics.
These are not the only illnesses that have troubled Norway's king in recent decades.

In 2003, the palace announced that King Harald was diagnosed with bladder cancer, and in 2005 and 2020 he had to undergo heart valve operations.
Nevertheless, even at the age of 87, Harald V does not seem to want to follow the example of other European royal families.
Beatrix of the Netherlands (86) abdicated in 2013 and handed over her office to the current King Willem-Alexander (56).
Albert II of Belgium (89) also decided to take this step in 2013 in favor of his son, King Philippe (63).
