Federal police forces searched objects in four federal states in a major raid against suspected members of a smuggling gang.
As a spokesman for the Federal Ministry of the Interior announced upon request, the operation on Wednesday morning in North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Bavaria and Schleswig-Holstein involved the execution of several European arrest warrants.
Berlin - The police authorities in France and Belgium were also involved, it was said.
The suspects are said to have been involved in smuggling across the English Channel.
The spokesman said the focus of the operation was NRW.
