, the mayor of Marseille Benoît Payan announces his decision to give a school under construction in the 10th arrondissement of the city the name of Mélinée and Missak Manouchian.
The establishment should open next September.
“This school should be named like this on the first anniversary of the entry into the Pantheon of Mélinée and Missak Manouchian, in 2025,”

The mayor chose a school because it is a place of heritage, and it must be remembered that he requested this pantheonization from April 2022.

A ceremony in Marseille
The history of the Manouchians is linked to that of Marseille, since it is in this city that Missak Manouchian arrived with her brother in September 1924. A bust in honor of the communist resistance fighter is also erected in the city, which will dedicate a ceremony in his memory on Saturday.
