On Sunday, Königsdorf's mayor Rainer Kopnicky invited public figures to the town hall.

He gave a review of the year - and a look ahead to upcoming challenges.

Königsdorf - Shortly before the start of the New Year's reception on Sunday evening, there was little to indicate a ceremony: Mayor Rainer Kopnicky calmly carried a few crates of drinks into the initially empty meeting room of the town hall and shortly afterwards welcomed the first guests.

“Today is primarily intended to be a relaxed exchange of views,” he said.

Long speeches, honors, music or show acts would be more of a hindrance.

The town hall boss therefore limited himself to a compact review of the year and a look ahead to upcoming challenges.

New Year’s reception in Königsdorf: “First and foremost a relaxed exchange of opinions”

Kopnicky particularly remembers the 125th anniversary celebration of the sick and support association in the summer, to which a delegation from the partner community of the same name Königsdorf in Burgenland (Austria) traveled, as well as the Christmas tree donation to the Bavarian capital.

“Around 280 club members helped to manage the Königsdorfer stand at the Munich Christmas market,” Kopnicky reported proudly.

This created a strong sense of togetherness among the 22 clubs involved.

“The cooperation was great,” praised the mayor.

In addition, the community has become known far beyond the borders of the region.

Accordingly, Kopnicky was confident that the upcoming 2028 anniversary celebrations for the community's 1,250th anniversary can be managed together.

Before that, it is important to successfully complete local political projects.

Kopnicky primarily mentioned the new gym building with integrated lunchtime care and the opening of the 23-hectare solar park in Mooseurach (we reported).

“This will be the largest open-space PV system in southern Upper Bavaria,” announced the mayor.

In collaboration with 17er-Oberlandenergiewende GmbH and Energie Südbayern GmbH, the community wants to focus on regional added value.

Königsdorf: Criticism from the mayor for accommodating asylum seekers

Kopnicky criticized the government for its accommodation of asylum seekers.

“We prefer decentralized solutions and are against shared accommodation because they make integration more difficult,” said the mayor.

He trusts in the commitment of the Königsdorf Asylum Helpers' Circle in this matter.

Financially, the community is still in a good position despite falling tax revenues and multi-million dollar projects.

“We still have to make sure that we have a reserve,” warned Kopnicky before the upcoming budget discussions.

After his speech, club representatives and local councilors took the opportunity to have relaxed conversations at the appetizer buffet.

Roland Herzog, managing director of the Hochland youth settlement, was already promoting the next social highlight: on March 22nd he will host a celebration for all the clubs that were involved in the Christmas tree campaign.

The already stable collaborations are likely to be further consolidated.
