Attenkirchen plans to equip 21 hectares of land with PV systems.

Many citizens see the advantage of a “double harvest”.

But there is also skepticism.

Attenkirchen

– Nothing is set in stone.

That was the final message at the information event about the planned agri-PV system in Pfettrach-Ost.

A project that, as reported, was recently approved by the Attenkirchen local council with a vote of 13:2.

Accordingly, the project, which covers a total of 21 hectares, should be pursued further - in the spirit of the energy transition and in the spirit of dual use.

The 21 megawatt agri-PV system will produce 23,500 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, but will continue to be used for agricultural purposes.

According to planner Constantin Winkelmann from the project planning company “Energyheroes”, sheep grazing, beekeeping or the cultivation of berries and herbs are planned.

In front of a good 70 participants, he spoke of “a double harvest” and that ecologically valuable areas would be created.

Everything is still flowing: Attenkirchen's mayor Mathias Kern (r.) emphasized in the presence of planner Constantin Winkelmann that a lot is still possible when implementing the agri-PV system.

Mayor Mathias Kern pointed out a catalog of criteria according to which, for example, a distance of one hundred meters from the nearest residential development must be maintained.

The expected trade tax revenue would not play a major role for the community due to the now significantly lower feed-in tariff.

However, a remuneration of 0.2 percent per kilowatt hour does.

Core was for the project.

“We will have more electricity needs, we have to cover that somehow.

We should produce it here rather than elsewhere,” explained Kern.

“We need feedback now so we can make the best possible changes.”

Headwind comes from local residents

Critics and supporters of the project didn't need to be told twice.

There were a number of voices that were positive about the project.

This included one participant who wanted to know “who looks after the sheep”.

Winkelmann explained that there are several options for this.

One of them would be to entrust a traveling shepherd with it.

But there was also criticism.

Headwind came from residents of the Agri-PV areas on the right and left of the B 301.

It was said that Pfettrach was practically being “paved over”.

Someone complained that Attenkirchen was actually the “gateway to the Hallertau” and as such was known for its hop gardens.

Instead, we now have to prepare for a “PV paradise”.

There was also a fear that it would create discord between those who would benefit and those who would only have disadvantages.

In this context, the idea of reducing electricity prices for Pfettrach came up.

Winkelmann thought that was possible.

However, a corresponding model still needs to be developed.

The question was also asked whether there were already lease agreements with property owners.

The planner replied in the affirmative, whereupon the assumption arose that everything had already been agreed upon.

Winkelmann countered that one cannot go into such a procedure without having a secure basis.

The head of the town hall takes suggestions seriously

Kern made it clear that they had come together to listen to objections and make changes if necessary.

That this is possible was shown, for example, by the request to “take out” one of the hop gardens in order to make the whole thing appear a little looser and not so massive.

The planner was definitely open to it.

A lot is possible, everything can be talked about, says Winkelmann.

For example, the fact that other farmers could also get involved.

From Kern’s point of view, “a lot of things are still in flux” in the process.

As he said when asked by the FT, the suggestions made are being taken seriously.

Further discussions in the local council are necessary.

He also didn't want to rule out a citizens' initiative or a referendum.
