During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, shortly after midnight, agents from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) who were carrying out a security patrol in the 15th arrondissement of Paris were alerted by the suffering screams of a man.
By approaching the place where the sound of the screams came from, the police were surprised to discover that an individual had impaled his leg on the access barriers leading to the La Motte metro station. -Picquet Grenelle.
According to a source close to the case, the victim, in a hurry to return to his home, had climbed the fences which had just been closed, perhaps hoping to catch a last metro despite the traffic stopping.
Unable to cross the fences, the man impaled his left thigh on one of the defensive pins installed on the top of the barrier.
Transported in absolute emergency
The sharp point would have passed through the individual's leg approximately 15 cm from his hip.
When arriving at the scene of the incident, the police officers made sure to keep the victim at arm's length "to avoid any worsening of his condition", specifies this same source.
The police also took the initiative of placing a tourniquet over the wound while waiting for help to arrive.
The victim's leg was finally freed from the fence.
Still conscious despite the pain, the man was taken care of by the firefighters and transported in absolute emergency to the Georges Pompidou European Hospital, in the 10th arrondissement of Paris.
