Regensburg - A police officer was so seriously injured during an attempted arrest in Upper Palatinate that he had to undergo surgery.
According to police reports on Monday, February 19, the 25-year-old officer and a partner tried to arrest two men in Regensburg who were involved in a physical altercation outside a nightclub.

The two men, 39 and 27 years old, are said to have initially fled after the incident on the Sunday before last.
When the two plainclothes police officers caught up with the men, one of the suspects is said to have hit the 25-year-old in the face, causing him, among other things, two broken bones.
One suspect arrested, another turns himself in
The two men are then said to have fled again.
The 39-year-old was later arrested during the manhunt, while the 27-year-old turned himself in to police.
The injured officer was taken to the hospital but has since been released.
His partner suffered minor injuries in a fall.
A judge initially issued arrest warrants for grievous bodily harm against the two suspects, but at the request of the defense the arrest warrants were suspended.
The criminal police are now looking for witnesses to the incident.
