A small medieval Provençal town with alleys flowered with old roses, a fishing village on the edge of the turquoise Caribbean Sea, an ancient island once surrounded by salt marshes... Which will succeed the commune of Esquelbecq located in Hauts-de- France to become the favorite village of the French.
The program
Le Village Préféré des Français
, presented by Stéphane Bern on France 3, returns for a twelfth edition and once again calls on the population to vote until Friday March 8.
Among the fourteen villages selected, thirteen are located in the metropolitan territory (one per region), and one in Overseas Territories.
Last year, it was the town of Esquelbecq in the North, with its 15th century castle, its old stones, its carillon and its gardens, which won the title.
This year the Hauts-de-France region will be represented by the commune of Mers-les-Bains.
This year, the show once again offers a nice variety of towns, always full of stories.
The winner is offered often unprecedented visibility and therefore a boost in attractiveness.
In 2023, the winning municipality of Esquelbecq had to review its tourist offer by increasing the number of
“camper van parking spaces, tourist signage with QR code, the opening of shops and facilities
,” declared mayor Didier Roussel. in Nord Info.
Broadcast on June 30, 2023, the eleventh edition of Le Village Préféré des Français brought together nearly two million viewers.
In 2022, the producer of the show Silvia Drumond affirmed that
“the number of tourists is sometimes multiplied by eight with a turnover which increases by 30%”
for the villages.
Regarding the number of voters, there are “
between 500,000 and 800,000”
each year.
Voting is open from February 19 at 10:00 a.m. until March 8 at 11:59 p.m. on the website ftvetvous.fr/levillage or by telephone at 3245 (service: €0.80/min + call price).
