More than centuries old, the history of the French Communist Party (PCF) has been marked by the commitment of its activists to the Resistance.
The pantheonization, this Wednesday, of the Manouchian couple, included in the French Section of the Communist International, ancestor of the PCF, recalls this glorious past.
“It is an honor that the Communist Resistance is finally represented in the Pantheon
,” declares Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the party.
The latter was to participate, with other elected communists, in the vigil around the coffin of Missak Manouchian at Mont-Valérien on Tuesday evening, while a round table to salute the memory of the resistance fighter was organized at the same time at the headquarters of the Communist Party .

Several figures of the French Resistance have entered the Pantheon in recent years: Pierre Brossolette, Geneviève de Gaulle-Anthonioz, Germaine Tillion and Jean Zay in 2015, then Joséphine Baker in 2021.
The communists, who participated in this internal resistance, were not represented until now.
