As the government of Upper Bavaria announced in a press release yesterday, the decision was issued on February 7th.
He gives the green light for the expansion of an approximately 600 meter long stretch between the entrance to the town and the Kammerloh roundabout.
People in Waakirchen have been waiting for this news for a long time.
It is important to eliminate a danger point near the school and kindergarten.
Mayor Norbert Kerkel recently complained that the route was “criminally narrow” (we reported).
The plan is to widen the roadway and create a sidewalk and cycle path on the south side.
In addition, the accident-prone intersection at the level of Glückaufstrasse is to be defused by building a left-turn lane and a crossing aid for pedestrians and cyclists.
Planning has so far failed due to the properties
The Rosenheim State Building Authority has been trying to eliminate the bottleneck on the otherwise well-developed B 472 since the 1970s.
This has so far failed due to the property owners' willingness to sell the necessary land.
In order to force their assignment if necessary, the authority decided in 2021 to start a planning approval process.
The project was examined in detail.
Documents are available for inspection
The documents will next be made available for inspection in the communities of Waakirchen and Warngau for two weeks.
The decision is also available on the Upper Bavaria government website at https://s.bayern.de/b472-waakirchen.
It remains to be seen whether legal action will be taken against the decision.
If this is not the case after the one-month appeal period has expired, the decision becomes final.
This means: There is a legal requirement to access the necessary areas.
Expropriation is the last resort.
“We always try to find an amicable solution for the property acquisition with the owners if possible,” explains Ursula Lampe, press spokeswoman for the Rosenheim State Building Authority.
The office wants to pick up the pace when it comes to expansion.
As soon as the decision comes into effect, further planning would be initiated, Lamp makes it clear: “In this case, construction could begin in 2025.”
