In addition to a list of the youngest billionaires, the wealthiest people in the world and the richest Europeans, the business magazine also publishes a ranking of the richest Germans.
Overall, the richest women and men in Germany have assets of over 200 billion dollars, or around 185 billion euros.
For comparison: The average wealth of Germans was 315,500 euros in 2021.
The five richest Germans at a glance – Lidl founder no longer at the top
Even though none of the Germans are among the richest people in the world, some of them were able to increase their wealth last year despite inflation.
For example, the now richest German, who was able to dethrone Lidl and Kaufland founder Dieter Schwarz.

Susanne Klatten is the fifth wealthiest person in Germany.

The entrepreneur and her brother Stefan Quandt inherited their parents' assets, including shares in BMW AG, and invested in a variety of companies.
Her fortune is estimated at $24.4 billion.
One place ahead of Susanne Klatten is her brother, Stefan Quandt.

3rd place: Reinhold Würth is one of the richest Germans with wealth from family businesses
Reinhold Würth ranks third among the richest Germans with a fortune of $27.5 billion.
From the mid-1950s, the German-Austrian entrepreneur expanded the Würth family business into the world's largest company for assembly and fastening technology.
To this day, the 88-year-old works as chairman of the foundation's supervisory board in the company.

Lidl and Kaufland founder Dieter Schwarz dethroned - now only the second richest in Germany
In second place comes Dieter Schwarz – founder and owner of the Schwarz Group, which also includes Lidl and Kaufland.
For a long time he was considered the richest person in Germany, including in last year's ranking.
But now the Lidl founder, with his fortune of around $38 billion, has been replaced.

The richest man in Germany has a fortune of $41.8 billion
According to Forbes,
the richest person in Germany is
now Klaus-Michael Kühne.
The 86-year-old Kühne lives in Switzerland and is the owner of the international logistics company Kühne + Nagel.
The billionaire is also the largest individual shareholder in the airline Lufthansa and Hamburger SV.
His estimated net worth is $41.8 billion.
