Unem, +8.1% sales of petroleum products in January - Infrastructure & Cities

Highlights: In January, Italian oil consumption overall increased by 4.1% (+179,000 tonnes) compared to the same month of 2023. Total sales of petroleum products in January gained 8.1%. Air transport appears to have recovered pre-Covid levels. On average petrol in January was equal to 1.777 euros per litre, approximately 5 cents less than in January 2023, while diesel was 1.734, 14 cents less. At an industrial price level (net of taxes), on average petrol and diesel were 3.5 cents lower than the euro area average.

In January, Italian oil consumption overall increased by 4.1% (+179,000 tonnes) compared to the same month of 2023 and total sales gained 8.1% (+298,000 tonnes) above all thanks to the contribution of fuels, not just those linked to road, naval and air mobility, but also of bitumen and lubricants.

This was announced by Unem (Energy Union for Mobility), specifying that all mobility products driven by petrol (+9%) and diesel (+10%) are growing.

Air transport appears to have recovered pre-Covid levels.


    As for the dynamics of consumer prices, on average petrol in January was equal to 1.777 euros per litre, approximately 5 cents less than in January 2023, while diesel was 1.734, 14 cents less.

At an industrial price level (net of taxes), on average petrol and diesel were 3.5 cents lower than the euro area average.
