It was an intervention that could have ended very badly for police officers from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) and the specialized field brigade (BST) from Toulon and Hyères (Var), one of whose cars was hit head-on during the night from Monday to Tuesday by armed and determined criminals who were trying to escape police intervention in the town of Val des Rougières.
As confirmed to Le
Figaro
from a police source, the police were requested near the city shortly before 11 p.m. following a report indicating that several individuals officiating at a deal point in the city had been
“threatened”
by sedan drivers equipped with handguns and Kalashnikovs.
A BAC crew in civilian clothes, quickly joined by BST police officers, positioned themselves in a parking lot located not far from the town of Val des Rougières for observation.
The police were then warned that residents of the city had heard shots near their homes, triggering an intervention aimed at Val des Rougières.
The front of the BAC vehicle pulverized
Arriving at the entrance to the city, the police came face to face with one of the suspect cars, a black Fiat Tipo, driving
“at high speed”
with four people on board.
The BAC agents attempted to check the vehicle, in vain, as it sped away from the city in an attempt to evade the police.
A chase then began between the BAC crew and the suspects, the latter not hesitating to take all the risks to try to escape control, running a red light, taking a roundabout at contraflow and even applying powerful brakes
“intermittently”
to try to cause a collision with the BAC vehicle pursuing them.
Running out of options to escape and soon blocked by a dead end road in front of a private residence, the criminals suddenly reversed right in front of the BAC, violently and deliberately hitting their vehicle, the front of which was pulverized.
The four suspects present on board then jumped out of their car, which was also damaged, forcing two police officers to end the chase on foot in the city center of Hyères, soon joined by a municipal police officer who witnessed the scene.
It is not trivial to rush into a police car in order not to comply.
This act is criminal and must be treated by the courts as such!

The police ended up arresting one of the suspects, found hiding under a parked truck.
Born in 2004, of Algerian nationality and the subject of a search file again according to a police source, the young man seemed to come straight from the Marseille city, being domiciled in Marseille.
Another suspect was arrested shortly after the intervention by agents of the BAC in Toulon.
No police officer was injured during this dangerous intervention.
