Roberto Eduardo Mac Donald
(62) was returning home.
He left his truck and took a few steps.
It is not clear what he did, whether he opened the gate or whether he did not even arrive.
He turned back, as if he had sensed danger, but
what he grabbed was key
to what would happen next.
Mac Donald, a retired police officer from the Naval Prefecture and deputy director of the La Matanza Urban Guard.
And he ended up
murdered in his home in San Justo in a robbery
.
The robbers took his service weapon and shot him to death.
It was 9:17 p.m. when Mac Donald loaded his truck up the sidewalk of his house, located in Mendoza and Chile, in San Justo, La Matanza district.
He went down and, recorded by security cameras, it is believed that he wanted to open the gate to his garage.
Suddenly, a
black Honda XR 300
motorcycle came onto the sidewalk.
Mac Donald noticed the danger and walked without hurrying to look for his bandolier.
Inside was the regulations
.
Almost at the same time, the motorcycle jets climbed onto the sidewalk and locked him against the door of the vehicle.
They killed him at point blank range
.
It is presumed that he was shot around six times, although the autopsy results are not yet available to confirm this.
Mac Donald was well liked among his peers.
In March he celebrated 10 years working in the Municipality of La Matanza, where
he joined the Urban Guard and of which five years ago he was the deputy director

Roberto Mac Donald was 62 years old and was murdered when he arrived home after work.
"He was dedicated to the coordination of the school corridors, among several tasks carried out by the Urban Guard. Very loved by all the staff, always willing to collaborate to resolve any situation of the management and his colleagues," sources from the Municipality.
Paradoxically, three hours before he was murdered, Mayor
Fernando Espinoza
used his social networks to communicate
a meeting with the Minister of Security of the Province of Buenos Aires, Javier Alonso
, to reinforce security in the district.
"We are working together with the province and the security forces to continue taking care of our neighbors and for the well-being of each family in La Matanza," he tweeted around 6 p.m.
The crime of a La Matanza official: the investigation
The investigation into the homicide was left in the hands of prosecutor Carlos Arribas, who participated in an operation in
Saint Petersburg
, one of the most complicated towns in Greater Buenos Aires.
Roberto Eduardo Mac Donald with Mayor Fernando Espinoza.
After a lock operation
they found the motorcycle
used to commit the crime and it ended up being kidnapped.
Those responsible were not at the scene, but they would have been identified.
Prosecutor Arribas ordered expert reports on the vehicle, while
"ruling out any indication that it was a targeted attack
. "
The thing is that due to the number of shots fired and because it was a public official, one of the possibilities was that it was a settling of accounts.
But, analyzing the images from the security cameras, they ruled out the possibility – for the moment – that they had gone looking for him.
None of the neighbors heard a previous argument or that they had identified themselves to stop.
It is also not clear if they saw that he had the gun because the cameras did not capture that moment.
The box from the patrol car in which Mac Donald was transported.
However, investigators believe that upon seeing her they ended up shooting.
The gun was the only thing the motochorros took from the crime scene.
Mac Donald was transported in the back of a Buenos Aires Police van to the Paroissien Hospital in Isidro Casanova.
He was serious but conscious.
It was after evaluating him and in the operating room that he lost his life.
