The family of Yuval Castelman, who was shot to death by a reservist in an attack in Jerusalem, demands the establishment of a state commission of inquiry - this is what the family members stated today (Wednesday) at a press conference they held.
"Yuval served in the Israel Police. I myself volunteer in the traffic police. The hardest thing for us is to lose trust in the Israel Police from what we have been exposed here. We have lost trust," Yuval's father, Moshe, opened the meeting - with sharp allegations against the body in which Yuval served, and which investigated the incident.
"There was a situation where a senior police officer came and explained to us why the body should not be dissected. In retrospect, we found out that the officer lied with determination, which dragged the expenses of Yuval's body out of the grave."
"We were happy about the announcement by State Attorney Amit Isman that he is instructing the police to open an investigation. We actually thought that they might find the truth because it is important to us to have the police back and we trusted the police, which is an external body that will get to the truth," read Moshe.
"Unfortunately, today we are two months and a little after the incident and nothing has happened. It's a joke. We called the press conference to call on the state attorney to call for an investigation that will lead to the discovery of the truth."
"Yuval the hero was a man of values who knowingly risked his life in the name of mutual guarantee. He hated injustice," continued Yuval's cousin, Ran.
"Unfortunately, it is not enough for a soldier to mark an X and execute him, a superintendent arrives who smears the investigation that X marked Yuval's values. It feels to us like life in North Korea."
"Yuval worked to thwart an attack. We are here to thwart a cover-up. Without the involvement of the police, the police would have buried this case. I doubt if we would have known about the injustice done to us," added Yuval's brother, Shaked.

Lawyers Amit Shelf and Daniel Haklai, representing the Castleman family, continued with the clear and firm line.
"The Israel Police continue the cover-up line of the
Israel Police, hiding things and burying the truth," Shelf claimed

"We turned to the state attorney with a request to meet with him for the time being. We have not received a positive answer, the same goes for the prosecutor and the director of the National Police. It is quite clear that the systems are at the very least not functioning. We are not only demanding an investigation and prosecution and we will take every possible legal step to lead to the investigation of the truth."
