A discussion about the quality of food in the hospital breaks out under a social media post.
A user claims to know a trick to get special treatment.
Munich - If you are a patient in the hospital, you certainly don't expect a star menu when you eat.
However, in a post on the social media platform Jodel, a post creator from Munich reveals a trick on how you can supposedly improve the quality of the food: “If you don't feel like standard hospital food, state as many intolerances as possible.
Especially when it comes to preservatives etc. Then we cook freshly for you.”

A discussion broke out under the post about how much truth there is in this claim - and how “fresh” the usual hospital food is anyway: “I work in exactly that area.
If our patients have a lot of intolerances, the choice of food is reduced,” writes a suspected hospital employee.
He also writes: “I then talk to the patients personally and we see what works.
But mostly rice, potatoes with side dishes like peppers, carrots, tomatoes.
So nothing crazy.” But the creator of the post also has an answer to that: “Yes.
That is also in the nature of things.
But it's not canned food."

The employee contradicts him: “Nothing here is 'canned food'.
An example: a patient states that he has a corn allergy.
He can no longer order any of our freshly prepared salads because unfortunately it has happened too often that something like this has been overlooked during preparation." Another user agrees with the criticism: "I can't confirm that.
In our case and in the two houses where I was before, you only get side dishes.
In my current house, one dish is even cooked fresh, but that is only for omnivores/partial vegetarians.”
Menu in Munich’s clinics – individual requests are often possible
The types of food that are generally available during a hospital stay vary from clinic to clinic.
For example, at the TUM Klinikum Rechts der Isar, patients can choose between three lunch menus.
According to the website, the kitchen is “well prepared” for intolerances, allergies or religious rules and “also caters to individual requests”.
At the Helios Klinikum München West there are also three different dishes to choose from for lunch.
Alternatively, according to the website, you can put together an individual meal using meat, fish and vegetarian ingredients.
The nursing staff must be informed of any intolerances.
Pretending to do this, as the creator of the post originally recommends on Jodel, not only seems a bit bold - but also unnecessary.
Apparently most hospitals are already prepared for individual nutritional needs and needs.
