At the first audience after the cancer shock, King Charles admits that his sympathy in the fight against the disease “moves him to tears”.
London - At the time of the announcement of King Charles' (75) shocking cancer diagnosis on February 5th, Buckingham Palace announced that Charles had "been advised by doctors to postpone public duties" but that he would "continue to carry out state business and official formalities would be done as usual.”
King Charles holds his first audience after cancer shock at Buckingham Palace
The Regent had initially retreated to his Sandringham country estate in Norfolk, but has been coming to London weekly, now for the third time, to have his cancer treated.
Behind the scenes, the monarch delved into government papers and maintained contact with the British government by telephone.
Now he appeared in person at Buckingham Palace for the first time since the cancer announcement and held an audience with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak (43).
Dapper as ever, with a touch of white hair around his temples, Charles III met.
with Sunak late Wednesday afternoon in the Study and Audience Room at Buckingham Palace.
Sunak was touched and said it was "wonderful" to see King Charles looking so good, to which the monarch quipped: "It can all be done with mirrors." After which the Prime Minister rushed to encourage the king.
He said, “Well, we’re all behind you.
The country is behind you.”

At this point Charles became uncharacteristically emotional as he confessed: “I have received so many wonderful messages and cards.
Most of the time, the wishes of happiness and recovery moved me to tears." Two weeks ago, the king and Sunak exchanged the most important points in government business in a telephone conversation.
Usually the Prime Minister and Regent meet weekly, which prompted Charles to say: "I'm afraid there was a gap." To which Sunak assured him: "Well, a little bit, but it's wonderful to see you in such great shape."
