Matti Klemm will soon be heard as a talking elephant in German children's rooms.
Many filmgoers have his smoky timbre in their ears because they know him as the German voice of “Aquaman”.
Berlin - Radio play hero Benjamin Blümchen has a new voice.
Matti Klemm (48) will be heard for the first time from March 22nd as the talking elephant, who is known for his cheerful “Törööö”.
The radio play label Kiddinx from Berlin announced this to the German Press Agency on Thursday.
“Many fans have been eagerly waiting for the new voice of the popular pachyderm.” The Berliner with the deep, smoky timbre will appear as an elephant for the first time in the 157th radio play episode.
The episode is called “Benjamin Blümchen as a singer”.
“The role of Benjamin Blümchen is a dream come true for me that I would never have even dared to dream,” Klemm is quoted in the statement.
“Benjamin has been a loving institution for decades, not just in the children’s rooms of this country, and I am incredibly happy to slip into this role and now let him continue to sound with my voice.”
Matti Klemm is an established name as a voice actor.
Filmgoers know him as the German voice of Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (“Green Book – A Special Friendship”) or the action hero Jason Momoa (“Aquaman”).
He has also been heard several times in reports and documentaries for public television or as a voice-over for the Kabel eins channel.
Third speaker for Benjamin
Klemm is the third speaker of the popular radio play hero since the series began in 1977. Episodes 1 to 80 were spoken by Edgar Ott (1929-1994), after whose death he was succeeded by Jürgen Kluckert (1943-2023), until Kluckert also spoke last year year died.
“The death of Jürgen Kluckert left a big gap,” said the Kiddinx radio play producers.
Matti Klemm says about his predecessor: “I was often able to work with Jürgen Kluckert in film dubbing.
We always had a very good time together and I learned an incredible amount from him.
I take this momentum with me into the role.”
“Now Matti Klemm takes on the role with his distinctive voice,” the label continued.
The Leipzig native will bring his many years of experience and talent “to bring the world of Benjamin Blümchen to life and give the popular pachyderm a fresh, yet familiar voice.”
In the new episode “Benjamin Blümchen as a Singer,” Benjamin is in a great mood and just wants to sing all day long - which he does.
His friend Otto thinks his friend's singing is wonderful.
Benjamin then decides to become a singer and give a concert at the zoo.
The preparations for this go well, but the next day Benjamin has disappeared.
What just happened?
