Three people were arrested on Tuesday in Oullins-Pierre-Bénite, south of Lyon.
They are
“suspected of aiding illegal entry and stay in an organized gang, fraudulent provision of false and false administrative documents and use of forgeries
,” the Lyon public prosecutor's office told Le
Figaro
, confirming information from BFMTV.
The investigation began in the fall of 2023 following the receipt by law enforcement of an anonymous letter.
According to initial estimates, the traffic of these counterfeiters brought in 300,000 euros for those concerned in six months.
Kits of false papers were sold for the price of 15,000 euros.
The investigation was entrusted to the office for combating illicit trafficking of migrants (OLTIM) under the authority of the Lyon public prosecutor's office.
The suspects were still in police custody this Thursday and investigations are continuing to determine to whom the false documents were sold.
