Putin critic Nadezhdin's lawsuit was rejected.

He is combative and wants to appeal.

His chances of success are slim.

Moscow – Opposition politician Boris Nadezhdin's lawsuit for admission to the Russian election was rejected.

The Supreme Court followed the decision of the Central Election Commission.

“I will appeal this decision within five days,” the war critic wrote on his Telegram channel.

Vladimir Putin's potential opponent is not giving up yet and wants to appeal.

Two weeks ago, the Central Election Commission in Russia rejected Nadezhdin's candidacy because of allegedly incorrect supporter signatures.

Nadezhdin turned to the Supreme Court, where the decision was foreseeable based on history: the judges had already rejected two other lawsuits from the politician over technical issues regarding his rejection, also followed by an appeal.

According to the AFP news agency, Nadezhdin's lawyer explained that the alleged errors were also small typographical errors that arose when handwritten information was digitized.

With his criticism of the war, Nadezhdin deals with exactly the topics that are also relevant to the population.

Some voices attribute the election committee's rejection to its success.

War critic Nadezhdin popular - and that's exactly why he was sidelined in the Russian election?

In order to take part in the presidential election in Russia, at least 100,000 signatures are required.

According to some accounts, the war critic collected twice as many votes, but was only allowed to cast 105,000 votes for consideration.

The Russian election commission then ruled that more than 9,000 votes were invalid.

The opposition politician nominated by the “Civil Initiative” party would be the only one with a critical profile among the candidates.

In addition to Vladimir Putin, who had the constitution changed specifically for his possible fifth term in office in 2020, three promising candidates are running.

They are either supporters of Putin or have no political ideas of their own.

The election commission only approved four candidates for the Russia election:

Vladislav Davankov

Deputy Chairman of the Duma

Leonid Slutsky

Nadezhdin was not there at the previous hearing; he said he was on a family vacation abroad.

However, it is unlikely that the appeals will be successful.

Political observers ruled out his candidacy precisely because of his success.

Nadezhdin's anti-war stance in particular brought him a lot of popularity, and people sometimes lined up for the Putin critic.

Meanwhile, many people in Russia fear further mobilization for the war in Ukraine.
