A new refrigerated van in Pesaro to increase the daily recovery of food and its redistribution to charitable organizations and poor families.

The aim is "to reduce waste, raise awareness of environmental protection, support families in difficulty".

The vehicle, an isothermal van, thermobox and fridge, was assigned by the Municipality of Pesaro, on free loan, to the BancoAlimentare Onlus Foundation.

Through the "Project for the recovery and free distribution of food products", the active interventions are channeled into a single channel, guided by a control room that coordinates the bodies and associations involved (LaCittà della Gioia; Fondazione Banco Alimentare Marche; Italian Red Cross-Pesaro Committee; Caritas Pesaro; the Municipalities of the Ats1 social territorial area) and optimizes the collection and distribution of food products, to be delivered to a larger audience of beneficiaries.


    "We are very happy - comments Luca Pandolfi, councilor for Sustainability and president of the Mayors' Committee of Ats 1 - to be able to give a boost to the services already active in the area, in particular for the free delivery of food goods to families in difficulty who are part of a project financed with 48 thousand euro of regional contributions".

"The objective - he explains - is to increase the recovery from company canteens, bakeries, pastry shops and food companies and also the assortment, thanks to the new means of refrigeration transport, enhancing the recovery of fresh products".

The project also includes training activities for the correct management of food surpluses and HACCP regulations;

education activities for schools in the Ats1 area;

communication activities to build new relationships with other food surplus donors.


    Pandolfi underlines "the constant and fruitful networking together with the realities of the Third sector, thanks also to the offices of the department and of the Ats1 which addresses extreme poverty.


   The work of the Poverty Observatory is fundamental for the analysis of the phenomenon. Among the initiatives incentivized the Cold Protection service: previously it was active only in winter, today all year round in the "Shelter for all" version.
