The last home appearance of the Forster Fingerhakler was a few years ago.

They were last deployed in the Bavarian Hiasl in 2006.

At that time, the traditional restaurant in the middle of the Wessobrunner district was still open.

To the delight of the Forsters, it opened its doors again for the Ammer-Gau championship.

Forst – “The interest is huge,” said Hans-Jörg Reßler, the boss of Ammer-Gauer, at the home game in his home community.

71 finger hookers from four to almost 60 years old and well over 100 spectators were able to welcome the organizing finger hookers from the Peißenberg-Forst association.

In addition to the hosts, the Haklers from Pflugdorf-Stadl and Antdorf-Eberfing also fought for placements in the various classes in order to qualify for the Bavarian championships.

Great willingness to help

“We really wanted to do something at home because we currently have a lot of active young people,” reported Reßler, who was also pleased about the great willingness to help with the championship.

“We took care of the catering ourselves because there were a lot of helpers,” said Reßler, referring to the around 20 women and men from the club who ensured everything ran smoothly and the food was served.

“The local clubs also supported us with dishes or something similar,” said Reßler.

The action took place for over four hours on the specially constructed stage in the hall.

After the youth duels, the participants were challenged in the age group and in the various adult weight classes.

To start in the lightweight class, the weight was not allowed to exceed 70 kilograms.

The limit was 80 kilos for middleweight and 90 kilos for light heavyweight.

Everything beyond that started in the heavyweight division.

The ritual before the hook duel at the fighting table was similar for many participants, who often appeared in traditional costume or lederhosen: put their hat to the side, pull down their suspenders, clamp their knees on the table and wait for the referee's starting signal.

After that, things usually went pretty quickly.

Many fights only lasted a moment before one of the hookers was dragged over the table or the leather ring slipped from his finger.

“There's some brutal power involved,” admitted one participant after stepping off the podium with cracked skin and a bloody finger.

“That’s part of it and it will heal again,” he accepted the injury calmly.

Small injuries are part of it

With two defeats, the competition, which was played in double knockout mode, was over.

The hosts from Peißenberg/Forst, who made up more than half of the participants, were very successful.

With 63 points they took the team victory ahead of Pflugdorf/Stadl (33) and Antdorf/Eberfing (15).

Hans-Jörg Reßler also won the heavyweight division, as did his club colleague Florian Obholzer in the middleweight division.

Stefan Reßler from the hosts was ahead in the lightweight division.

In addition, there were numerous other podium places for Peißenberg-Forst among adults and young people.

“The bottom line is that it was an absolutely successful event,” said Ammer-Gau boss Hans-Jörg Reßler with satisfaction.
