The Lenggries Green councilors are taking an unusual step.

They will resign from the parliamentary group on Monday and form a new one.

Lenggries - It is likely to be an almost unique event: Next Monday, February 26th, all three Lenggries Green councilors will leave the Green parliamentary group and then immediately afterwards join together to form an “Independent parliamentary group”.

This is what it says on the agenda published on the Internet on Tuesday.

This is more of a formality, explains Daniela Werner, who has been a member of the local council for the Greens since 2020.

Her parliamentary group colleague Roman Haehl also hints at a certain alienation from the local association.

The latter is - this is in the nature of things - not very enthusiastic about the step.

The Greens have been sitting on the Lenggries local council since 2020

For the first time, the Greens ran with their own list in the 2020 local elections - with pretty great success.

Right off the bat, the Greens secured three seats in the 24-member committee.

Daniela Werner, Nadia Harrer (Tretter) and Roman Haehl formed the Green group.

All three were also members of the party.

Haehl has now resigned from the association and therefore also from the local association.

When asked, he reported that the step had already taken place in September 2023.

In consultation with the local association and in view of the upcoming state elections, he decided not to publicly announce his resignation, said Haehl.

The reasons for leaving the Greens “were, on the one hand, the federal political orientation of the party and, on the other hand, the different local political approaches between the local association and the parliamentary group in Lenggries,” said Haehl is compatible and makes sense for the work in the local council.”

Roman Haehl wants to continue to work for young families

However, it is important to him to continue to concentrate on his work in the local council.

He wants to continue to support the interests of citizens - especially young families - in the future.

“The collaboration with my parliamentary group colleagues Daniela Werner and Nadia Harrer was and is always very good and played no role in the decision.”

Daniela Werner also emphasizes this.

And in order to be able to continue this cooperation, they decided to merge into a new, independent faction, she explains.

“In terms of content, nothing has changed in terms of our convictions and the goals with which we stood for election four years ago,” explains Werner.

She and Tretter are still members of the Green Party.

“We would like to maintain the good cooperation with Roman Haehl for the remaining term of office as a joint group.

Formally, this only changes the faction name.”

Local association spokesman: “Collaboration between the local association and parliamentary group has come to a standstill”

The leadership of the local association was apparently surprised by this step.

We were informed of this on Sunday - but without further explanations, says Werner Hüttl, one of the two speakers, when asked.

“We regret this very much.” But there remains “a certain lack of understanding”.

There was no disagreement, emphasizes Hüttl.

Nevertheless, “the cooperation between the parliamentary group and the local association has pretty much come to a standstill”.

One might have wished for a slightly stronger green voice, more green proposals and ideas in the local council, he says.

Isn't the step also fatal with a view to the next local elections in two years?

“It clears the way for a redefinition and a clear positioning,” says Hüttl.

The declared goal is to put together a green list of candidates again.

He's not worried about that, because the local association has 25 members with an average age of 48.

Since it was founded in 2019, a second generation of members has already grown up and will now be specifically introduced to local politics, says Hüttl.

Local council:

The meeting of the Lenggries local council on Monday, February 26th begins at 6 p.m. in the multi-purpose hall in the former post hotel on Marktstrasse.
