Possible racist shouting at a party in a state training center is causing a stir in Hesse.
Now there is a demo.
The responsible minister also comments.
Rotenburg - Around a month after possible inflammatory chants in the financial administration study center in Rotenburg, Hesse, the initial suspicion has not been confirmed for the time being, according to Finance Minister Alexander Lorz.
The Christian Democrat said this on Thursday in the budget committee of the state parliament in Wiesbaden, referring to the Fulda public prosecutor's office.
Their investigations continued.
If the suspicion were to be confirmed, those affected could face disciplinary proceedings and even dismissal due to “characteristic unsuitability” for civil servant status.
Lorz himself says he does not know how long the investigation could last.
According to information from students, there were possible racist chants at a celebration in the center in Rotenburg in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district on January 23rd.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the party was organized by participants in the current exam class.
According to media reports, slogans such as “Germany for the Germans” and “Foreigners out” were said to have been shouted.
Lorz also said at the special meeting of the budget committee that on Thursday “several hundred” students spontaneously demonstrated against racism at the study center.
The minister also referred to the “Rotenburg Declaration against Racism and Discrimination,” which was also distributed on Thursday.
She describes the study center as a “cosmopolitan and tolerant educational institution”.
It goes on to say: “Therefore, racism, anti-Semitism, xenophobia or xenophobia and any form of discrimination have no place here.” According to the information, the declaration was decided by the center’s staff representatives on behalf of all employees.
In his answers to numerous questions from the opposition factions of the Greens and the FDP, Lorz also recalled the study center's new advice center for students affected by discrimination.
About a week ago, the investigation was expanded to include another case on suspicion of sedition.
Two witnesses reported possible racist statements by a candidate for civil service in September or October 2023, the Fulda public prosecutor's office and the police recently announced.
A 33-year-old candidate for justice secretary is being investigated on suspicion of sedition.
According to the public prosecutor's office, these investigations were still ongoing on Thursday.
According to its own information, the study center for financial administration and justice trains around 1,000 new dual students and trainees for the public service every year.
Of these, around 820 new candidates are attributable to the Hessian financial administration and around 210 to the Hessian and partly Thuringian judiciary.
