The Cortona OnThe Move international photography festival will return from 11 July to 3 November.
The theme of the 14th edition of the festival will be Body of Evidence.
Italian and international artists will explore the many nuances of the body, promoting a deep reflection on current events and on a crucial theme in society, customs and contemporary art.
"Also for the 2024 edition, Cortona On The Move continues to present itself as a cultural catalyst, reflecting the contemporary world through the gaze of the photographers it hosts - states Veronica Nicolardi, director of the festival - With a commitment towards inclusion, the festival opens up to a ever wider audience, aspiring to be a stage for artistic expression and critical discussion".
Paolo Woods, artistic director, explains on the chosen theme that "today more than ever the body is the territory of all battles: identity, gender and political, individual or collective. If it is true that photography is proof, at Cortona On The Move 2024 we will reveal the 'Body of Crime' through exhibitions that will investigate all its declinations. We will discover the body and ourselves".
The festival is produced by the Onthemove Cultural Association and is organized with the patronage and contribution of the Tuscany Region and the Municipality of Cortona, the support of Intesa Sanpaolo and Gallerie d'Italia and the support of AutolineeToscane, Sony and Doctors Without Borders.
The third edition of the Cortona On The Move Award will also be held, an award to support photographers in the production of their works, and the Vittoria Castagna Award aimed at young people for marketing and communication for cultural production.
The 12x12 project also continues with the photographer Marco Lanza, which retraces the history of public transport in Tuscany in collaboration with At and the festival.
