The Edeka on Tölzer Marktstrasse has been empty for a few weeks.

What will happen to the store?

This question comes “too early” for the property owner.

Bad Tölz – Since the closure of the Edeka branch in the city center, not only an important local supplier has been lost.

Some Tölzers are also worried about the sight of the now empty shop - after all, a long-term vacancy in such an exposed location on Marktstrasse would not be particularly representative.

When asked by the Tölzer Kurier, owner Hermann Elmering said: “I am not satisfied with the current situation.” By this he means the fact that Edeka has left the building.

However, it is currently “too early” to provide further information about how the house will be used in the future.

Direct city intervention is not possible

The topic is also on the radar of the city administration - with city hall spokeswoman Birte Stahl once again emphasizing that direct intervention is not possible here.

“The economic development agency can only ever provide contacts, as the city is neither the owner of the property nor the landlord,” says Birte Stahl.

“Ultimately, a new lease is a private sector decision between the landlord and the interested party.”

However, when asked by our newspaper, she confirmed that the city's economic development officer Sandra Herrmann was "in discussions with some companies" regarding the property at Marktstrasse 58.
