The Magistrate's Court in Tel Aviv discussed today (Thursday) the extension of the detention of the 83-year-old resident of Bat Yam, who is suspected of murdering his 72-year-old wife on the city's Clove Street.
During his interrogation, the suspect claimed that he was sleeping at night and woke up to the police knocking on the door.
He does not associate himself with the offense attributed to him.
Another testimony was collected by the police from a relative of the couple and he shed light on the suspect's past and previous incidents of violent behavior towards his wife.
It also emerged from the initial investigation that the suspect tried to end his life about a year and a half ago after he developed a mental illness.
As a result, he was admitted to Urbanval Hospital and left the hospital only a few weeks ago without a medical permit.
The suspect, who does not speak Hebrew, mumbled unclear sentences throughout the hearing.
"Patrol teams were called to the scene, where after a few minutes they located the suspect who opened the door for them," said the police representative during the detention extension hearing.
"The victim was found in one of the rooms suffering from bleeding stab wounds. The MDA team that arrived at the scene at the same time began CPR on the victim and at the end had to determine her death."

"We are talking about an elderly man born in 1941, who, based on the limited evidence in the case, understands that for a year and a half he was continuously hospitalized in a psychiatric ward," noted during the hearing attorney Zohar Moshe, who represents the suspect from the public defender's office. "Apparently there are additional indications that have reached the unit The researcher myself was unable to accept or understand them because the suspect's ability to communicate is extremely limited.
The suspect's ability to disrupt investigative operations is almost non-existent."
The couple were not known to the police and no reports of violent incidents in their home had been received in the past. With the arrest of the suspect, the police forces that arrived at the scene of the stabbing began to investigate the circumstances of the case.
MDA paramedic Hila Filosof and medic Emergency medicine at MDA Daniel Giat said: "The injured lay unconscious, we performed medical tests but she was without a pulse and not breathing, we immediately began performing advanced and prolonged resuscitation operations that included stopping bleeding, massages, breathing and giving medication, but unfortunately her injury was critical and we had to to determine her death."
