Just before the opening of the polls, the candidate for the mayor of Holon Shai Kenan in a special interview for the "Walla" website!

About the work plan for Holon that became more relevant than ever after October 7th, about the "Holon volunteers" activity that he initiated during the war, about the intensive service in the reserves in recent months, and also about the negative campaign that the competitors are running against him

just days before the intriguing elections for mayor of Holon, we invited Shai Keinan, the candidate To the mayor and the chairman of "Holon Matavat" for an interview with Merav Miller.

We are in the days of war and in it an election system

"like all the people of Israel. Israel is at war, the times are challenging, we will of course get through it and win. As for the elections, the residents of Holon are faced with a clear choice between two options - the first option is the current, existing way, we already know it 30 years. The second option is the option I am presenting, of a renewed Holon. An independent faction of people who are professionals who are experts in their field. I am asking for the public's trust in the two ballots, the personal yellow ballot Shai Kenan and the white ballot for my faction, "Holon is renewed." If we become the faction The largest in the council, I will be able to fulfill my work plans, which were formulated with the best professionals."

You mentioned the war, then it was said that from the first day of it, a project called "Holon volunteers" was already established.

What did your activity consist of?

"Actually, "Holon volunteers" is a project that I established already during the Corona period. At the time, I captured the city's youth for activities for the elderly and, among other things, we provided them with food and medicine. This time they didn't need it, but they did need a break, a supportive shoulder, a friend On the morning of October 7th, I was drafted into the reserves for two and a half months and already on the way to the base I revived "Holon volunteer". The project succeeded beyond expectations and brave friendships and close and exciting relationships were formed among the youth who visited the city's veterans. What is especially exciting is that educational institutions have adopted this model and adopted it as an educational activity.

In addition, we coordinated efforts on behalf of the abductees. Unfortunately, Holon has two abductees from the city, Agam Berger and Bar Kuperstein who we hope will return to us as soon as possible. We organized a race to raise awareness and instead of my election signs we hung the photos of Agam and Bar calling for their return home.

The "Volunteer Holon" project also expanded this time to preschool children who were in dire need of a respite activity that would distract them from the general stress and anxiety. We brought in top-notch child artists and produced dedicated activities in public gardens throughout the city, free of charge. The children enjoyed themselves - and the parents no less.

We did this to strengthen community resilience in the city of Holon.

I did it successfully during the war and I believe we will do it successfully under the leadership of the city as well."

You were here in the studio before the war and then you said that you intended to focus on the subject of personal security - when we did not yet know about the October seven, and of course education, infrastructure and transportation in the city, did any of this change following the war?

"It hasn't changed, on the contrary - it's gotten stronger. You reminded me that I talked about security long before the October Seventh and brought to the council the implementation of the successful model of the Tel Aviv municipality's SLA department.

At the time, some of the council members rolled their eyes and did not understand the importance.

Those contestants who talk about security - voted against my proposal.

I think that today everyone understands the importance of personal safety on the city streets.

The city of Holon under my leadership will be a safe city.

Even before the October Shiva, my security plan for Holon included cameras that would be connected to an operational center, neighborhood guards that would be equipped by the municipality, and even an armed patrol that would be stationed in every neighborhood.

" He worked hard for the changed reality. In the field of education, for example, Kenan points to significant pedagogical and emotional gaps, since most of the students have experienced both the corona virus and an ongoing war

. , but no less important than that, I am going to invest in an educational psychological service to also overcome the mental gaps that our children have accumulated, both from the corona and during the war.

It is important to me, the community resilience of the city of Holon and the children are a central part of this plan."

The political rivals are running a negative campaign against you and the claim is that you will make the city of Holon more religious, I would love to hear how you react to that?

"Listen, we are in an election period, so I accept with love the attack on me, but it is a complete lie. There is simply nothing between this and the truth. Holon is a liberal, open and colorful city. This is how I grew up, this is how I love it and this is how it will remain . ".

Before we finish, do you have a message for the residents of Holon?

The city of Holon is important to me, it is my life's mission.

I love the children of Holon, I have many dreams to fulfill for this city and its children, and I repeat my request from the beginning of the interview: go vote, exercise your democratic right and together we will march Holon to change."
