On Saturday, the Geltinger traditional group celebrates its premiere with the play “Da Baderkriag”.

Our newspaper was able to attend one of the last rehearsals before the big performance.

Gelting – Next Saturday the time has finally come: the Gelting customs group is playing theater again.

“Da Baderkriag”, the title of the piece written by Markus Scheble and Martin Gasteiger, will rage eleven times in the kindergarten hall on Leitenstrasse.

The three-act play premieres on February 24th at 7:30 p.m.

However, the performance is already sold out.

Tickets for the other dates are still available for 15 euros.

Our newspaper was able to attend one of the last rehearsals before the big performance.

Gelting customs group plays theatre: premiere already sold out

About the plot: At the turn of the century, an experienced barber practices in the Bavarian province.

He has his treatment room in the next room of an inn.

The collaboration couldn't be more advantageous, as the waiting patients stop in the dining room.

But the harmony doesn't last long, as the innkeeper's son Toni is about to complete his medical studies and challenge the old barber for his livelihood.

When Toni comes to visit one day, the barber decides not to give up his territory to the young aspiring doctor without a fight.

He therefore explains the “Bader War” to him.

You have to know that the Bader's field of activity used to be extensive.

In addition to cutting hair, personal hygiene and cosmetics, his tasks included pulling teeth, cupping and bloodletting as well as treating smaller wounds.

The audience shouldn't be too sensitive, because Alex Kiesel is sometimes quite brutal in his role as Bader, so that a lot of (artificial) blood is shed.

This also upsets young Toni (Sebastian Schrills), who - you guessed it - is actually not suitable as a successor.

Gelting customs group: Some young actors included

The two theater directors Franz and Markus Wirtensohn have once again cast the eleven roles appropriately and age-appropriately - from the hypochondriacal sisters Resi (Sabine Wirtensohn) and Marie Kotzenrieder (new to the ensemble: Katharina Gebhardt) to the grumpy “Hausl” (also new: Florian Lechner).

The mix of fresh faces - the third young actress is Marie Wirtensohn - and experienced players is also a sign of the gradual generational change in the traditional group.

“We are pleased that so many young people are interested in theatre.

They also bring us a younger audience again,” says Franz Wirtensohn.

Markus Wirtensohn describes the team as well positioned.

The first reading rehearsals took place before Christmas, and from Epiphany onwards, rehearsals took place twice a week.

As always, the piece has been slightly changed.

“There have to be a few local hints and a bit of a personal stamp,” says the co-director.
