About ARA San Juan

The ARA San Juan (S-42) of the Argentine Navy was a German-made TR-1700 attack submarine, which served from 1985 until its shipwreck at the end of 2017.

It had conventional diesel-electric propulsion with a snorkel system, designed for attacks against surface forces, submarines, merchant traffic and mining operations.

The team, the company Ocean Infinity and its ship Seabed Constructor, hired to find the ARA San Juan submarine.

The Argentine Navy lost contact with the submarine when

it was moving from Ushuaia to Mar del Plata, near the San Jorge Gulf

, possibly due to its sinking as a result of an implosion.

Eighteen countries collaborated in the search and rescue (SAR) operation for fifteen days, without results.

The following year, the government hired the private company Ocean Infinity and began a second search that

concluded when the ship was found on November 17, 2018

, very close to the point of disappearance, at a depth of 907 meters.
