In this second week of school holidays, have you exhausted all your ideas for activities to keep your children busy? Here is a selection

Escape from the citadel of Château-d'Oléron.

Built under the supervision of Vauban, the Oléron military structure becomes this year the scene of a family escape game called “infiltration mission”.

Designed for families and children aged 8 and over, the adventure alternates for almost 2 hours between puzzles and a stroll through a historic site to discover without... getting lost (reservation required at 06.98.47.69.43, single price: 10 euros per person ).

Follow a guided tour… and eventful!

To follow in Vauban's footsteps, head to Saint-Martin-de-Ré – on the Île de Ré – and its fortifications, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Rais tourist office offers for 1h30 to slip into the shoes of an attacker then a defender to better understand the architectural genius of the famous engineer of Louis XIV (registration required, 8 euros per person, 3.50 euros for children aged 5 to 12).

To watch the birds.

In Rochefort, grebes, snipes, avocets, warblers and marouettes can be discovered during observation walks near the lagoon station.

Supervised by an ornithologist guide from the LPO, these outings offer a view of truly beautiful nature (binoculars are loaned).

Prices: 6 euros per person, free for children under 10 years old (reservation at 05.46.82.12.44).

Slip into the shoes of a sailor.

A stone's throw away, the Corderie royale allows you to discover the soul of Rochefort-sur-Mer and an old rope factory.

Seamanship workshops are offered for children aged 6 and over.

A sailor teaches this very particular art of sailor's knots used to make a bracelet or a key ring.

Prices: 10 euros per person;

15 euros for 6-15 year olds with a visit to the Corderie royale;

reservation at 05.46.87.81.40.

Explore a miniature jungle.

Do you prefer to wear boots?

Île de Ré Découverte offers a tasty “low tide safari” at the foot of the Baleines lighthouse, in Saint-Clément.

The idea?

Explore this little-known world in search of hermit crabs, crabs, and sea anemones. Prices: 10 euros per adult, 5 euros per child, free for children under 5 years old, reservation at 07.81.43.54. 96.
