A fighter from the Nahal Brigade who left the Gaza Strip for Israel in the early morning was arrested by the military police on suspicion of intending to sell his weapon. According to the investigation, the fighter had signed for a Tabor type rifle, but when he entered the fighting against Hamas in the Strip he was asked to sign for an MP machine gun.
At the request of his commanders, he transferred the personal weapon to the battalion's container.
During the last month, he had only the mag in his possession. Under circumstances that were not clarified in the investigation, the Tabor rifle was transferred to another soldier without permission. The soldier who carried the weapon was also arrested at the beginning of the week, partly for drug offenses.
The military prosecution requested to convince the court to extend his detention of the suspect for the purposes of continuing the investigation, as there is a reasonable suspicion that he was involved in the sale of the rifle. It should be noted that the rifle was not sold, nor was it transferred to another party. It is in the hands of the military police.
