The new children's home in Allershausen continues to take shape, but is more expensive than expected.

This met with different reactions from local councilors.

Allershausen

– The first cost estimate for the daycare center in the new Eggenberger Feld Süd development area was collected in February 2020.

The kindergarten with five groups should cost 7.6 million euros.

War in Ukraine leads to material shortages and delivery difficulties

However, at the local council meeting on Tuesday, Andrea Moosreiner from the building authority had bad news for the council: the Amperspatzen children's home will be more expensive than expected.

On the one hand, the “overall economic structure” is to blame, as Moosreiner explained.

“The war in Ukraine, for example, led to material shortages and delivery difficulties.

“It makes everything more expensive,” she said.

But there were also mistakes in the construction planning, the architects Martin Goldbrunner and Johannes Dantele, who were also present at the meeting, had to admit.

However, some additional services would only arise in the course of the construction process; that was completely normal, according to their opinion.

The additional costs consist of various points as a result of increased quantities, order extensions and additional services.

For example, an estimated 12,000 euros are due for converting the ventilation and a good 19,500 euros for floor drains in the kitchen, fittings and shower enclosures.

The pressing of the fire dampers, which was forgotten in the tender, cost the municipality a good 4,000 euros.

The total costs for the kindergarten are rounded at 8.37 million euros, which is 8.5 percent higher than the costs forecast for 2020.

For Mayor Martin Vaas, this is still completely within limits: “We are now 8.5 percent above the cost estimate.

If I had been told that back then, I probably would have signed it.

For a public building of this size, that's completely okay.

The children should definitely be worth it to us.”

“Is this your first time doing this?”

However, other local councilors were less satisfied on Tuesday.

The additional costs are clearly too high for them.

They took their displeasure out on the architect: “When I hear here that some things were planned incorrectly or forgotten, I ask myself: 'Is this the first time you've done this?'” SPD local councilor Christian Huber, for example, hurled at the two architects in contrast to.

However, Andrea Moosreiner also had some good news to report: “With the schedule, we are back on track to some extent.” The children’s home is expected to open in the fall.

It remains to be seen whether the “Amperspatzen” will be able to move into their new home at the start of the new care year in September.

Completion is more likely in October.

Ultimately, the additional costs for the children's home were approved with two votes against.
